Branding Process
Brand development is driven by thoughtful design and efficient organization. We use tools like Illustrator and InDesign to create high-quality designs, while file management systems keep everything streamlined and accessible.
Operating Spaces
Gathering Information
- Meeting with Client & PM: The client answers questions and a meeting with the client & PM and/or the creative team is scheduled.
- Meeting with Client, PM, and Creative Team: This is an important meeting to discuss what the client is looking for and to ask any questions before beginning the project. A few key questions to keep in mind:
- Is there a certain logotype you prefer? Would you like to include a symbol? If so, please let us know if you have any symbols in mind.
- What colors you would like to include or not include?
- What the client likes and dislikes is important to us. Provide a few logos you like and dislike & explain why.
- What is the story behind your brand name?
- Should we use a certain typeface? Sans Serif, Serif, Script, etc.
- Who are your competitors? Target audience?
- What are a few characteristics that best define your brand?
Logo Development Process
- Brainstorming Session: The creative team schedules a meeting to discuss ideas for the logo before beginning the logo process.
- Logo Creation: Independently create 2-3 logos each to present during the internal review. These should be thoughtfully designed and original.
- Internal Review: The creative team presents logos to each other before presenting them to the PM and client. Everyone provides constructive feedback. As a team, we decide which logos to send for client review.
- Logo Presentation: Logos are sent to the Creative Team Lead to create the Logo Presentation for the client including logos and logo descriptions.
File Management & Templates
- We have a brand design file management system to streamline our processes and maintain continuity across clients.
- Depending on what the client wants, we will either use the one-sheeter template or the full brand guide template, along with the logo guide.
- The one-sheeter template includes spaces for the logo suite, fonts, and colors.
- The full brand guide template includes spaces for all of the aspects of a fleshed-out brand, including patterns, messaging, photography, and more.
- The logo folder template includes guides for all logo variations in the logo suite–horizontal, vertical, and icon. These folders are divided into subfolders for digital/print and for all color variations.

Note
Make sure you are not overriding template files when creating these items.
